Who we are

A boutique agency specialising in connecting accountancy practices with top talent, Williams Munroe is built on the belief that recruitment can be done better. With a background in elite sport, our business is driven by our competitive nature and determination to build high-performing teams for our clients. Currently based in Birmingham, Williams Munroe strives to become the premier talent and recruitment consultancy within the accountancy sector across the UK.

In what is a very traditional sector, we are disruptive and innovative. We understand the challenges facing practice today, working closely with our clients to assess and advise on effective recruitment and talent development solutions. We champion value-added consultancy; we are not afraid to challenge client perspectives on their recruitment needs and processes. Our brand values are empathy, integrity and resilience.

The personal touch is at the core of how we operate. We adopt a 'search based' approach, thoughtfully matching candidates to clients and roles. We are confident in our specialist knowledge and think laterally and long-term.

Phil Evans

Founding Director

After studying degrees in Economics and Law, Phil went on to complete his Legal Practice Course and began working for the Law Society of England & Wales where he dealt with high profile and serious complaints against solicitors. Always a keen sportsman, Phil was presented with an opportunity to move full time into professional rugby where he went on to build a career as a professional coach specialising in elite performance across multi-disciplines.

The insight and opportunity of working with Super 15 Franchises, Premier League Football Clubs, UK Sport, England and Premiership Rugby provided him with a unique insight into what it takes to build high performing teams, and how to attract and manage the very best talent.

Working as a consultant, Phil would share this knowledge with a number of corporate businesses before moving into recruitment full-time where he's built a ‘word of mouth’ reputation as one of the top consultants within the accountancy space.

Outside work Phil will often be found in the gym or outdoors – walking and exploring with his dog. To fuel his active lifestyle he's also a passionate BBQ chef. One of his life goals is to visit Argentina for the best BBQ in the world!

Dominique Needles

Head of Practice Recruitment

Dominique has over 13 years of specialist accountancy recruitment experience, making her one of the Midlands' premier consultants in this sector. Having worked across contingent, retained and interim solutions Dominique is perfectly positioned to offer clients the very best consultancy.

When working with clients to overcome any challenges presented by the current market, Dominique has a deep understanding of the audit and tax sectors.

Outside of the office, Dominique will be found supporting her two sons in their sporting passion - cricket! After a tough week at work, she's also partial to a rehydrating cocktail.

Samantha Davidge

Consultant

Samantha's career started out in customer services, working in retail and call centres for energy and telecoms companies. Her interest in recruitment was sparked after working on an internal recruitment project for a well-known energy company. She enjoyed finding out what made people tick and supporting them in their first few weeks with their new company. She made the move into HR, giving her an insight into both sides of the recruitment process and how it works. By combining this experience with her customer service skills, she was able to offer a market-leading level of support to candidates looking to further their career.

She has now worked in accountancy recruitment for several years and loves the 'buzz' and exposure of working with many different people. She is looking forward to learning new skills and helping many more people on their journey as part of the Williams Munroe team.

Outside the office, she can usually be found curled up on the sofa either reading or watching the latest crime drama.

Abid Hamid

CEO of Recruitment Entrepreneur

Abid studied law and worked in corporate finance before entering the recruitment world 25 years ago. He’s worked in over 35 countries in various CEO roles, as the director of a UK FTSE 250 company, and as a non-executive director of multiple recruitment companies.

A founder of ARBP, a consultancy business servicing 22 countries, he has a wealth of experience in building and managing teams, running culturally diverse teams, operating in challenging environments and facilitating turnarounds. Industry specialisations include oil & gas, security and professional services.

At the weekend, Abid enjoys watching rugby, spending time with his family and walking his dog in the country.

Greg Hollis

Managing Director of Recruitment Entrepreneur

Greg oversees origination deals working closely with Williams Munroe across planning, strategy and delivery.

Having lead and developed businesses for over 22 years, Greg has a wealth of experience gained across multiple sectors, building small businesses and being part of a leadership team within a global leader. Before joining Recruitment Entrepreneur, Greg worked for 17 years at ManPowerGroup, where he was the Head of Talent Solutions in the North West, Northern Ireland and the Midlands.

When not in the office, Greg is a full-time professional dad to his two daughters.

Angus McDowell

Chief Financial Officer of Recruitment Entrepreneur

Angus studied Accounting and Finance at university, before going on to complete an MBA at Cass Business School. He has a wealth of managerial and board level experience. Having worked as an accountant and Head of Finance at several large firms, he joined Recruitment Entrepreneur in 2017 as Investment Director.

Now as CFO, Angus' involvement in the strategy and planning for Williams Munroe serves to drive value creation.

On a Saturday, he can be found watching rugby with his family.

Daisy Betteridge

Head of Operations at Recruitment Entrepreneur

Daisy studied English and Spanish at Royal Holloway before kicking off her career as a personal assistant. She was James Caan's PA for a year and half and subsequently moved into operations at Recruitment Entrepreneur in 2015,

Daisy oversees and manages all operational activity. She implements best practice business guidelines and strategies and works closely with Williams Munroe to ensure everything runs smoothly and efficiently.

When not at work, Daisy enjoys seeing friends, being active outdoors and brunch.

Sam Proctor

Marketing & Communications Director of Recruitment Entrepreneur

With over 20 years of delivering marketing, communications, digital, PR and events programmes for global businesses across multiple industry sectors, Sam brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team.

Having spent the past 10 years specialising in recruitment, she sets the strategy for all externally-facing marketing activity for Williams Munroe.

Previously Sam worked for the global venture between BT & AT&T as well as in BT Retail's corporate client division, managing global account activity and relationships, before going on to head up development of Europe's first multimedia new release for leading news distribution provider, PR Newswire, now Cision. Since specialising in the recruitment sector, she worked for the largest healthcare agency provider in the UK, before working for James Caan CBE and now Williams Munroe.

Outside of the office, Sam enjoys adrenaline sports, renovation projects and spending time with family and friends.
